Oeuf Bibliotheque - The Egg Library

Binding - Mini Concertina

Materials - egg shell, Japanese paper, black walnut wood, basswood, inkjet printed booklets

This piece is a miniature library of booklets housed in two bookshelves contained inside a shell of a chicken egg that serves the “books” cover. Each booklet contains developmental information. The piece is a play on the fact that the egg cell contains the DNA housing the genetic code or “blueprint” of life and that molecular developmental biologists construct molecular libraries to study the regulatory details that are the basis of development.
