This sculptural book features bird migration using the Arctic tern as the example. These birds are the “champions” of migration distance in the animal world. During a tern’s lifetime they migrate the equivalent of 3 trips to the moon and back! The book spine is a bird keel with covers attached and signatures sewn to the inside of the keel. The Keel is central to the focus of this book, as it is the keel where the large major flight muscles are attached. Attached to the cover are some feathers. The title of the book is repeated on the front cover 34 times reflecting that Arctic Terns can live up to 34 years.
