Each book has unique wood covers highlighting pattern, texture and shape a particular species of wood. Shapes and sizes vary from about 1.5 to 10 inch heights. A brief text page highlights the importance of wood to humanity over the millennia. Each book is laden with a large assortment of images that reveal the incredible beauty and microarchitecture inherent in a variety of wood species. Images include: macroscopic views using a dissecting microscope; scanning electron microscope images of internal structure in wood; light microscope photo-microscope images of histological stained sections of wood using both bright field and polarizing optics.
